Independent designers
Product designers and industrial design studios with a closure idea and a sketch.
Co-Develop
supfit Co-Develop is for independent designers, startups and small businesses with a fresh idea for rotary closures. We bring the engineering, prototyping and manufacturing. You bring the vision.
For independents and small teams, including people outside supfit’s home market. Not a consumer store. The directions further down are examples, not products we already make.
Who it’s for
Product designers and industrial design studios with a closure idea and a sketch.
Early companies, including crowdfunding projects, that need engineering and a factory behind the idea.
Teams who already make a product and want a rotary closure added to it.
Studios, labs and student teams. Each project is reviewed on its own.
What supfit brings
| Capability | What we do | Unpublished |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering | We review whether the idea can work, choose the dial, lace and guide path, and design the mechanics. | [PLACEHOLDER: engineering team size] |
| Rapid prototypes | Printed or bench-made models, then a sample that opens, closes and holds. | [PLACEHOLDER: prototype lead time] |
| Tooling | A dedicated tool, or an existing platform reused so the first version costs less. | [PLACEHOLDER: tooling lead time and cost range] |
| Testing | Life, tension and environment checks on the closure. Results belong to the project. | [PLACEHOLDER: tests we can run] |
| Short runs | A smaller first batch so an early product can ship before a large order makes sense. | [PLACEHOLDER: short-run minimum] |
| Production | Scaled manufacturing, inspection and export packing when the product is ready. | [PLACEHOLDER: production lead time] |
Process
Fill in the form and upload a sketch. If you need it, we sign an NDA before you send confidential detail.
Engineering reviews feasibility and replies within [PLACEHOLDER: reply window].
We send a construction proposal, a way of working together, a cost and a timeline.
We build a functional sample. You test it. We revise it.
Tools are cut, then reliability tests are run.
A short run first, then volume when you ask for it.
Directions, not a catalog
These are examples of where a rotary closure might go. supfit does not claim to already make any of them.
One-turn tightening for shoulder straps and packing cubes.
Zone-by-zone adjustment for knee, wrist and ankle supports.
Head-circumference adjustment. Certification stays with the helmet maker.
One-hand adjustment for harnesses and leads.
Fit adjustment for braces. Medical-device rules are a separate track, and we will say so in review.
Retention straps for boards, bikes and training gear.
Adjustment at cuffs, waists and brims.
Questions
Submit
At the summary stage, do not include confidential information. Exchange drawings after an NDA is signed. NDA and co-development agreements still need a lawyer — background IP, new IP, exclusivity and territory are contract terms, not website copy.
Helmets and medical products can require their own certifications. We will flag that in review. This note is not legal advice. We keep the time of each submission so later disputes about who showed what are easier to untangle.
